We express our deep appreciation for all those who helped us make our first annual Boyer’s Blossom Festival a great success. We welcomed many new friends to Boyer’s who were visiting for the first time, as well as many of our long-time supporters.

We enjoyed yummy treats courtesy of House of Bread and Illusions Food Company. Relaxing chair massage by the students of Oriental Healing Arts Center and their instructor Mike Spartan. Amazing live music by Denise Martin (on dulcimer) and Jim Kerr (guitar) helped to set a lovely mood. A great big thank you goes to our champion level sponsor Paul’s Tree Service for the huge donation of chipping wood so that our grounds can be ready for the big event.

We also want to thank the following folks for getting the word out about our event: Alaska Master Gardener Association, Alaska Pioneer Fruit Growers Association, the Currant Affairs newsletter, and Jeff Lowenfels (Author and ADN Garden Columnist) for letting his readers know about our event.

Sponsor-A-Tree

Thanks to the families and businesses who signed up to sponsor a tree at our festival. Sponsor-A-Tree is a great way to help contribute to the orchard, learn more about fruit tree production and care, form a connection with a specific tree, and of course, celebrate the fruits of your labor! We encourage families, groups of friends, co-workers, and small businesses to go in on a tree sponsorship together. Follow this link to read about the program and see the available trees.

Volunteer Opportunity-TOMORROW

Thinning Fruits – Wednesday, 6/15/22 2:00-5:00 pm – bring gloves, scissors/snips. We need help with thinning the fruits on our trees. This is an easy task, and can even be done sitting on a stool or ladder. Thinning the fruits means we reduce the number of new fruits per cluster so that the trees’ energy is aimed at fewer, but healthier fruits. Regular thinning, along with pruning also helps the tree to produce fruits more regularly and reduces the incidents of injury or disease. We appreciate your help whether for an hour or for the full time.
